Raage Ugaas was engaged to a girl, who was blessed by God with beauty. Raage was very fond of her and was in love with her. But, the girl was eventually married off to his rival Garaad Faarax Wiilwaal. When the news reached Raage, he became so upset, he recited this poem called Alleyl Dumay.
RAAGE UGAAS WARFAA was a chief, poet, and Somali military warrior who lived around the middle of the 19th century. Considered by many Somali to be the best halabuur, Raage Ugaas is remembered for his poems, stories, and interesting events. He was the first to employ guudmaar, an allegorical technique that old poets used to send and convey secret messages.
