The great ambition of Issaatxalúash (Two Leggings), also known as Apitisée (Big Crane), is the subject of this book of stories and recollections, detailing the modest triumphs and humbling disappointments experienced across the life of its author.

The narrative told by Two Leggings was translated from the Crow language into English by Robert Yellowtail, a prominent bilingual Crow lawyer educated at UChicago who, through his knowledge of traditional culture, was able to maintain the cultural integrity of the original story while making complex concepts from pre-reservation life understandable to a non-Crow audience.
