Edda Sæmundar
The Poetic Edda is a collection of narrative poetry relating the stories of the old Germanic gods and heroes in mythical and material realms across the dense forests, stark mountains, and powerful rivers of Scandinavia and Germany. The primary source for the written text of the Elder Edda, so called for its relation to the later Prose Edda, that has survived into the present is the 13th-century Icelandic manuscript Konungsbók (pictured), also called the Codex Regius, although the complete body of Eddic poetry also incorporates other 14th-century manuscripts, like the Hauksbók and AM 748 I 4to, and even earlier runic inscriptions like the Eggja and Fyrby runestones.
