Samson and Delilah
Samson and Delilah are 14-year-olds who live in the Aboriginal community of Iwupataka, or Jay Creek, near Alice Springs in Central Australia. Samson is mute and addicted to sniffing petrol, and Delilah takes care of her grandmother, with whom she creates dot paintings.
Dir/Scr WARWICK THORNTON calls the film a “survival love story” of overcoming the bleak circumstances of an impoverished, government-run Aboriginal settlement. He is best known for this, his award-winning debut feature film, and four and counting features since.
